This week in Year One we have been learning about 3D and 2D shapes and add sums and mollter cars, we also have a really exciting new topic about our local area, we had Mrs Melling come in to tell us what is was like for her as a child. We measured 1 metre of paper and cut it into smaller pieces and measured them. Does this look like a metre to you?
We have been learning about length, by measureing lines, and making houses out of bricks, straw, sticks and lego bricks. we found this very fun because we could messy. We learnt that we need to pick the right materials to build the right house. we learned that putting lots of straw together with cellotape made the straw stronger so it could hold more weight. We also really enjoyed the Diversity day on Monday

In year 1 this week we have been learning about 2D shapes in maths, we have been learning how to halve 2D shapes. In our topic we have been learning about wild animals and how they are different to humans, they eat food that isnt cooked and we dont, our favourite wild animals are a meerkat and a lion. A lion has very sharp teeth, and meerkats are cute.

Today we have been learning about 3D shapes, we learnt that a 3D circle is called sphere, and we are also learning about zoo animals, did you know that the tigers long teeth are so they can tear their meat apart.
This week in year 1we have been learning about 3D shapes, like a cone and cubes, we went to Knowsley Safari Park and we saw of animals , our favourite animals were the monkeys and the Lion.
